The #teamabbey Curriculum
Intent - "Our Why?"
Our pupils' outlook of the world can often be challenging, as a result of their diverse needs, previous experiences in education and the opportunities available to them in their communities and in employment.
The intent of our curriculum is simple. We want to empower our pupils in our school community to grow into prepared young adults who know their rights, can make informed decisions and can make sense of the world around them, embracing its diversity. We want our pupils to achieve their aspirations by broadening their experiences beyond their front door and the front gates of the school and knowing that learning is lifelong.
Our big 6 encompass this intent and are specifically chosen to ensure we meet the needs of our students and the way in which they co-exist in the world around them. Providing golden threads that underpin community and being valued.
Implementation - "Our How"
We want our curriculum to build knowledge and skills through the creation of experiences that take into consideration individual needs and development stages.
To develop students to be confident, happy individuals that have a safe place to make mistakes.
To be inquisitive, resilient and inspired learners that believe in themselves and achieve their full potential
